I have two Destroyer Carbines in 9 Largo, fun little toys, hard to come by. Easy to reload for and accurate. Go here for more information on 9 Largo. It's a neat cartridge, been shooting it for years. I get brass from Star-line. If you can find a copy of GUNS, November 2005, I have that Destroyer they have an article on. You can use Colt 38 Super magazines in them if you cut a notch in the magazine body so it can lock using the carbines magazine catch. They are the same, only how they lock in place is different. You can get Detroyer mags from SARCO for about $6.00 each. I bought thousands of the corrosive and non corrosive ammo from SARCO also.
One more thing, .38 Super is not interchangable with 9 Largo, some say it is, .38 Super is a lot hotter and uses a semi rimmed case. 9 Largo is rimless and is not loaded to the same pressures as .38 Super, so dont go sticking it in a 9 Lago pistol.
There are two things that affect the interchange.
Dimensions:
9mm BB/Largo is a 23mm tapered rimless case.
.38 ACP/Super is a 23 mm straight semirimmed case.
The straight vs taper part seldom makes much difference (I saw one guy to post that he preferred 9x23 brass for loading 9mm Steyr, which is a straight case.), but there are some Largo guns with too narrow a breechface for the semirim.
.38 ACP is a little lighter load than Largo but hard to find. Super is a good deal hotter load than Largo and some of those Spanish guns are pretty soft. The Astras are probably of the best steel, but then they are blowback. And a real Bergman would be too valuable to take chances with.
9 mm Largo 30,000 CUP
38 Super +P 36,500 CUP
.38 Super 33,000 CUP
