Wolf 22 recoil spring doesn't fit

I just got two p64 and I was trying to replace recoil spring with the one from Wolf 22. Then I put it on I couldn't put the slide on. I tried numerous times but the slide doesn't go back on. I put old spring back and slide was going back easy. Anybody else experienced this?
