What do you guys use to clean? I've been using only Rem Oil Wipes, with no solvent. The oil wipes appear to do a fine job cleaning and lubricating. Do any of you think there's an issue with not using a solvent?

Scott, is this a fresh P-64 that has never been cleaned, or a P-64 that you have initally cleaned and shoot often?

I bought the P-64 about a year ago and it was mint. I think I may have been the first to shoot it. I don't shoot it very often.

Wheel bearing grease and plastic syringe, what a great idea!(and cheap) I dug out my wheel bearing grease can and it said it was a lithium based grease. There wasn't enough grease in it to do another job anyway so I filled up a plastic syringe and all my old autos got a little grease on the slide. Maybe it's just me but I think it really made a difference on some of them.
Alsmost had an accidental discharge, but that is a story for another thread.

Thanks for the info. Is 20W-50 motor oil the same as wheel bearing grease?

Scott,
20w-50 motor oil is not the same as wheel bearing grease.
Specific "wheel bearing grease" is usually very heavy bodied with a fiber like consistency. You would be better off with multipurpose / wheel bearing grease. It is usually found in tubes to be inserted into grease guns. Any auto parts store can hook you up.

donnerwetter58 is right about the old wheel bearing grease very heavy bodied with a fiber like consistency for drum brakes , multipurpose / wheel bearing grease is what I use , it's ( synthetic ) you can get grease in like butter tub's to,the motor oil I use is full synthetic and it doesn't have to be 20W- 50 that just happen to be what I used in my EL Camino

I think i've used it--I just can't keep track of where I put it, it's with some of the boys' paintball stuff, been awhile since I've seen it--LOL. Seemed to work OK, but it wasn't quite as thick as what I was expecting.
