buying destroyed frame

Post by dmarschal »

Hello!

It's a long time I visited this forum. I'm still having problems with the P64 grips - as you know. Five of a hundred crack and I still don't know why???? The frame? The wood grain?

I have a questions to the gunsmiths here. It's an "is it possible" question.

For first. I know it's prohibited to import any gun part to Hungary where I live.
What if I buy a cracked frame from a gunsmith located in the USA and ask him/her to saw the frame into two halves at its centerline. The barrel mounting and the other moving parts should be removed/sawed down.

It would be fine for testing the grips on and to solve the cracking problem once and for all.
Of course, it would be impossible to convert it back to a gun and, I hope, it would not hurt any law to have it shipped to me.

Please correct me if I was wrong. Any help would be appreciated!

Thank You,
Dennis Marschalko

Dennis

I can't see any reason why it wouldn't be legal , the only problem I see is to get some one to destroy P-64 frame

Hello Norm! Thanks for the quick reply!

I would be glad to pay full price for a P64 gun and skip the other parts.

Perhaps "someone" can make a mold of the grip frame for him? If "someone" has the mixes it can be made with acryllic repair mix or any plastic type they can get. Make a rubber mold of it and pour in the plastic material. I don't think there is any law to avoid in sending that considering it is not a "protected Material/Design" here or a national security risk or secret document. Someone could make a P-64 Squirt Gun! Good Luck! G

Is this project moving forward?

Dennis needs a real frame.

Is bent metal, chopped, a problem to send to Hungary?

Do we have an attorney as a member who may be versed on the subject? I have seen lawyer posts before.

Zee, can you make a "death mask" and ship it over?

Dennis must be paying 15 Euros per litre.

Shipping a frame from the US will be a risky proposition. As long as it has a number it is legally considered a firearm - period. Does not have to have a barrel. I think that Dennis would be better served by simply driving to Poland, where these are available, particularly damaged. Get in touch with any gunsmith, buy the broken frame and drive back to Budapest - is that simple.
You can probably even get a permit to have a broken - deactivated frame from the Polish police and/or customs officials, but the border crossings from Poland via Czech Republic and Austria to Hungary are unmanned - open......

I'm glad to see the discussion on this matter continuing. I recently contacted Dennis M. about a couple replacement grips for the cracked and broken ones I currently have. Customer service seems to be #1 with him! I'm waiting on him to acquire a P-64 frame so he can do a final fitting!

Thanks guys!
