As former Marine infantry who has been to the "sandbox" I can say that I myself have a great appreciation for my fellow Marines and soldiers that have served weather or not they have actually been in combat. Good luck to any of us that face the enemy in the military or in Law-enforcement... we don't need more photos like this one....

I don't know what that picture was from but it is representative of every parent's nightmare. A child should never outlive a parent and to lose one to the violence of war is a travesty.

That beautiful little tearful face made me break down and cry just imagining the circumstances. I can't imagine the marine fared much better.

I'm camping, and was real proud of the fact that I was able to wifi a connection just to check in. Then I saw the picture that TTH posted and I had to go for walk. I'm back but my throat still hurts a little. That picture said a lot. Thanks of posting it. Later Don

nbender,

You are right, but sometimes things in life get crazy and we all get sidetracked and extremely busy. I haven't logged into this site for several weeks and for many reasons but as soon as I read your thread I immediately went to the Bartos link, left a message and prayed for his well being.

I hope you don't take this too personal, I think we all try to do the best we can. This is my favorite forum that I've ever been on and I think this is probably the best group of members I've been involved with. I'm sure that if you sent an email to each member they would tell you that they do care and do wish him the best.

Picture made me cry. God has a special place for those who paid the ultimate price for freedom and those who keep us safe.

My son (lifer Navy) was on the honor guard in san diego. He said the hardest part was the flag. I asked him why did he do it, and he said, "Someone has to take care of these guys when they come home." Made me proud.

Poland as a nation does not have an oficial motto, but during dark days of nineteenth century when our country was torn to pieces between Russia, Prussia, and Austria one came to be prominent:
"Za wolnosc, wasza i nasza." ( For freedom, yours and ours).
Those words followed our troops thru trenches of Great War, fiords of Narvik, sky over London, and slopes of Monte Casino.
I'm proud to know new generation did not forget.
I'll add Bartos to my prayers for those in harms way.
I wish we could send him a care package.
We just send Thanksgiving one to our friends in Sandbox.
