Informal email-in shooting competition

Post by barnett3006 »

It would be lots of fun to have a shooting competition every once in a while. We could establish some basic rules and standardize a target so everything is fair. Bragging rights would be the only reward of course.

So what do you guys think?

Are you talking like a standard size target from a certain distance and then post photo of how you did? Sounds like fun, I'd participate.

red,
yeah, something like that. by standardized target I meant that we would all agree on one particular, easy to pick up at wally-world kind of target. we would go by the honor system to follow any rules. your idea of posting photos of our targets is easier than what I had in mind so we could do that, then one of the more prevalent members (if they wanted to) could judge the photos and announce the winner.

Wow, great idea!

Name the target and I'll be picking some up.

My initial thought is that the shooting distance should be around 10 yards to ensure that most of us hit the target with all of our shots versus comparing how many rounds actually hit the target. I'd rather measure groups than count holes...

Any thoughts on how many rounds should be fired?

I'd like to give this a try......and I promise not to sneak the bushmaster out for a little .7 inch grouping...lol

sounds awesome!, I'll participate. perhaps a standard sized silhouette should be used

ones like this can be found at pretty much every range

although it may be a bit more challanging, a print out one could be standard, Makarov.com has some there that may work, that way those with a backyard range don't have to hunt for a silhouette

har, I was looking at walmart.com for targets and didn't find much (although they have them at the stores???) so I went to target.com and searched for "target" and got 104463 items found.

This is frustrating... I'll go down to wallie world and see what they carry tomorrow morning/today morning (1:52am) and report back.

How about just specifying the size.

What about the 10" splatter targets? Some of the other hi-vis stuff maybe?

interesting, we need some of the big shots in here, someone is bound to have competition hosting knowledge (not saying that any of you don't)

You're right......let's give the big shots a few days to respond.

I don't really care what the target is, I think it would be fun and I'd participate...

I can put up a prize of a P-64 slide stop spring and a trigger return spring

if the participant's would donate $2.00 to the P-64 forum http://p64.home.insightbb.com/main.htm

(bottom left hand corner)

I know this is all full closes , but have a independence day shoot , in other words have all targets in by 12:00 midnight 4 July 2007

maybe we could get a printable Polish P-64 TARGET from Bartos

NORM

PS . WHAT DO GUYS THINK

Norm,

I must have done something wrong, when I printed out a target from that site you posted and they came out 2 1/2" x 2 1/2", for me that is pretty small target at 10 yards........ ;D

This site I have used for a year or more for my free targets, works for me, and at the bottom it has a place for all the info: Shooter, Date, #Shots, Score, Firearm, Caliber, etc, etc. just a suggestion. http://www.makarov.com/funstuff.html

This is a great idea that barnett3006 has come up with, and your idea of $2 donation to the P-64 forum is a super idea also!!!

Norm,

I figured it out, its to early in the morning for even simple stuff..... ;D.....its a smaller target than the one on Makarov.com but its fine too, with these old eyes I need a larger target, but what ever the group decides on is fine with me, count me in too.

Norm,

I like the free stuff too, and having this event 4 times a year is also a good idea too. I'm getting fired up about all this.
