Any of you all having a problem with 8 Rounds in the P.83
Magazine? I fired my 1989 P.83 for first time yesterday, It is was very accurate, at my indoor Range. I noticed that sometimes perhaps due to Ammo. I had to try several times to chamber the first Round,as it would not Chamber, The Wolf Conical shaped Bullits did better. My Gunsmith said just fire 7 Rounds and you are ok! he said it's the Magazine. Is this just because of a new or tight Mag. Spring? I am not going to underload my mag's. It was made for 8 Rounds, I am putting 8 in it! I wanted to know is this common, because he said there is nothing wrong with the Pistol itself! thank's for reply's Paul

I have not had any feed problems and have been loading 8 or 8 + 1 with both mags. Mostly have have firing Silver Bear FMJ but have also fired some old MKS green box FMJ I have as well. I can't remember for sure but don't think I have tried the Hornady XTP in the P83 yet.

I was using the Privi Paratisan Ball Rounds, and the Wolf with a Conical shaped Bullit, sort of like WW2 German Luger Ammo. The Wolf did better. Both Mags. do this I guess its tight Mag. Spring's or the Pistol is finicky about what Ammo it uses. As I had the Pistol checked out, it may be what I said earlier, tight Mag. Spring's? thank's for reply.

Well I celebrated the 4th by going back to the Range Today, I shot 150 more Rounds through it. only happened 3 times I guess the more I fire it the better it will preform, The Mag. Springs must be tight or new.

I think that is both a simple and worthwhile thing to do. I found quite a bit of cosmolene in there. Don't know if it would have affected function or not, as I cleaned everything before I fired the pistol.Hobe Sound P.83 wrote:I did not take it apart, I guess I wil do that, I did wipe them down good.

I concur with cleaning the mags and also ensuring they're assembled correctly.
My P83 eats a steady diet of Silver Bear, both FMJ and JHP. The mags always accept 8-rounds and it's never had a feed or extraction issue. I just can't seem to keep the mags full.
