Anyone know how the Serial Numbering went for P.83 Pistols?

Post by Hobe Sound P.83 »

I have a P.83 from 1989 SN: GH07979. I was wondering if anyone knew how the Serial Number sequence was done. Did they start at AB00001 and go to YZ10000? Hope someone knows. Paul

Iam just guessing here, but If they used the double letter system like the Russians which they look like they have, either the numbers repeated themselves during the year, or they maybe had a system from AB to YZ not sure how high the numbers went, I recall the WW1 Lugers at DWM went from 0001a to 9999a per month then started again in Feb, of the period for the 1914 Military Luger, with 0001b to 9999b, dont know how high the Poles went.
