SMC 918 Arrival Inspection and Range Report

Post by irishbob979 »

Received the gun on June 18th. First inspection revealed what appeared to be a low round count, pristine pistol. As soon as I checked the safety I realized that I had a problem - it wouldn't move. I got home, disassembled the gun and found a burr on the safety barrel. A few minutes with a jeweler's file and some graphite fixed it. I guess the Pawn Shop in CA thought he was unloading a damaged gun. It appears to be a fairly new gun. The sticker on the original box had a sale date of 1995. Whoever owned it previously sure didn't shoot it much. Finish is 90%, feed ramp, breech and internals are clean.

Took it to the range yesterday and it shoots great - I think I got the better end of a bum deal. I'll upload pictures if I ever figure out how to do it.

Man, I'm glad that it worked out for you, and sorry to hear that someone was trying to get over on you. Does your SMC have the steel frame (mine did - based on the BR-61) or the aluminum frame (the R-61)? I really love those small Hun guns.
