UMAREX Makarov CO2 pistol range report

So I picked up one of these from Sportsman's Guide for $54 and thought I'd let you guys know what I think about it.

In short, I'm really impressed. It's all-metal (die-cast, but metal nonetheless), the magazine loads through the bottom of the grip, double action or single feel close to the original, working slide, accurate, and somewhat powerful for a BB pistol. A great training aid for Mak owners. The only other CO2 pistol that I can compare it with is my GAMO PT-80 and the Mak just comes across as being more realistic and of higher quality. My only complaint are the cheesy plastic grips, but the original Mak has cheesy plastic grips as well. Maybe Pearce grips will fit? (edit, I checked, not without extensive mods).

It should be noted that UMAREX is a German company and known for high-quality air-guns.

The attached picture shows a 2 inch, 5 shot group from 30' (exit side shown). As you can see, three of the shots are within a 1/2 inch with two flyers.

The best part is? I shot this group in my basement 8) No need to head to the range our out to the woods to shoot.

Now if UMAREX would just make a CZ-82 and a P-64 version......

Norm got one of those awhile back, he said it very accurate and, I've found a Beretta 92 C02 at Amazon.com new for $48.95 with free shipping that I'm thinking about getting.

If not for the fact I could only shoot it at the range, I'd buy one. Darned neighbors.

My neighbors are the reason I want the Beretta CO2, their darn dogs and cats prefer my yard and truck over their owners, I've talked to them with no responce, my truck is always tracked up and I have to clean up after a 2 large dogs before I can mow, yulp, they have been warned, BTW, these are my neighbors on the street behind us, my neighbors on my street are not the problem.

Wow, I looked up the Makarov Pistol on the Umarex USA site to look at the specs, and it does look very nice. I might have to get me one.

Papa

Ever try a fully automatic paint ball gun?? A neighbor I had used one in Jacksonville 15 years ago. Used one on some puke vandals and taggers. My oh my did it raise a stink!!! It but some pretty welts on those punks. He was a parachute rigger in the Navy. He 'borrowed' some anvis-9 night-vision googles (got permission to take them home).

Bump... :P

I still love this BB pistol. Great for training too, I went into a slump of sorts awhile back- missing everything and anything I aimed at with a pistol. I reviewed the fundamentals and shot the BB Mak for awhile (no recoil so you can focus on the basics). Now I'm back in the game as it were, hitting apples at 50 feet with my CZ-82. My kids love it too, gonna' have to get them each one for their birthdays or something.

I think you will like it. I have had one for two weeks and it is fun and accurate as I am, which is not saying much. But it does pretty good and good practice with. I was going to go with a faster one but when I saw the Mak had to have it.

It is a bit noisy but I shoot it when the neighbors are not around and anyway I can shoot it in the garage. Not as bad as a .22 though.

In the reviews most were good but one guy had the CdO2 tightener bread off but he just used a vice grip and it worked good.

Now if I could just find a Steyr model!

From what I have seen with my Mak version if you don't hit them you will still scare them enough they will vamoose. You can put out enough BB's to keep them jumping. Faster shooting does slow down the output speed a bit but for the fun you have in mind it does not matter.

That is a nice gun.

The Umarex Mak is a neat pistol. Got mine from SG also. Made in Taiwan. I was very surprised at the quality.

Surf, it looks like some folks get theirs from Sportsmans Guide - http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/u ... 545629&e=Y

I'd say you could probably search Umarex Makarov in Google and get a lot of results of places to buy them from so you can compare prices.
