Might be off-topic a bit, but... what about the watch? ;) Does it function? If so, where'd you pick it up?

Thanks, The pistol is a Russian Ishevsk manufactured Pistolet Makarova. Some time in it's life it made it's way to Bulgaria. Then was imported and marked with Bulgarian pistols. The seller advertised it for just what I described. Paid under $500,for it delivered with shipping and transfer.A bit high ,but this is the first Russian made PM,I have seen, after looking for a few years. We have gunshows here, down in Indy that are 1500 table events, never saw one there either.

The watch,I picked up right after the Berlin wall fell. It is an 18 jewel mechanical pocket watch, comemmerating WWII Order of the Red Banner. Arussian gentleman was selling them for $25 at a local gunshow. Had all kinds, should have bought more, but really did not know if they were junk or not. Have carried this one on and off for some 10 plus years, keeps perfect time.Always liked mechanical things, watches,Triumph motorcycles, vintage Jeeps, autoloading pistols...

Another shot of the PM,and close up of the Ishevsk factory mark(triangle in circle). Not 10 in circle as found on Bulgarian made pistols.

I think it was imported as Bulgarian to get around the agreement between Yeltsin and Clinton to ban the import of Russian handguns to USA.

You did well on the price. I've been looking for a Russian military model and been told the run around $750 if you can find one.

I believe PshootR is correct about the Bulgarian stamp on the pistol. I have a newer 1981 Russian Makarov that has the cyrllic marking, then 4 numbers that I got off a Russian collector about 15 years ago for $300 and transfer costs. Paddywonka, your makarov is in superb condition! :)

You also have to remember that Century Arms imported alot of Makarovs over the years. Chinese, Russian, East German, Bulgarian, hey they all are decent pistols. Hardest item for me to locate were the Tokarov bakelite grips with the hammer & sickle and the little stars on the grips that stood for the differant Soviet states. ;) Sgt P.

Not a bad price. I got one about 2-3 years ago on GB for around $450 OTD.
