Polish P-83 Wanad at J&G Sales

That is a decent price for a fine pistol. I figured we would see them used at a decent price before long since Poland adopted 9mm. I had a Eagle version in like new condition that I sold for $500 awhile back.

Here's the link to the one I won at Cowan's Auction a year and a half ago. Bid of $200 was the high bid plus 15% buyer's premium equals $230. With shipping and FFL transfer it came out to about $270 with three mags.

It has a "modern" feeling double action trigger pull, not an "Oh, my God!" pull like the P-64. Otherwise it's kinda like a Glock 19 sized pistol in 9mm Mak. It also has modern style sights like a Glock or any other contemporary pistol. Mag release is not the usual Colt style but a variation of the older P-64 type.

The main "claim to fame" of the Vanad is that it is principally constructed of steel stampings, common practice in sub-gun manufacture but extremely rare in hand guns.

The wrap-around grips absorb recoil well and compared to a P-64 or even a Mak it is a please to shoot.

Considering that it is not much more powerful that a P3-AT it is a rather large gun for a fairly low powered cartridge in my opinion.
On the other hand reliability should be first rate.

Thanks for the info and the auction site. I would like to add one of these fine P-83s to my shooting group.

Norm any word on spare parts for these pistols from the guys who already have them?

Wonder if Dick Funk has made up any IWB holsters for these pistols before? I will have to ask him. Sgt P.

Okay guys - I just bought one.

I'll let you know how it turns out after I get it.

I'm going to the gun show in Chantilly Virginia next week - if any of you guys live in the area let me know.

Norm,
Thanks for the info on parts availability for the P-83. Gun show next weekend so I hope to see if any P-83s are available thru my local dealers, or if they'll do a transfer. Sgt P.

I have read that makarov mags work in these (and visa versa). Can anyone verify that

That would be a BIG plus in my book, not having to buy another magazine type!

southpaw, when I get my P-83 this week I will try a makarov magazine to see if they will work. If they work it will be a great plus as I too also have several makarov mags. The pictures I have seen of the P-83 magazines looks alot like the E. German makarov mags I bought several years ago. Also, on several of the forums that I had read, it was mentioned that the makarov mags are the same. :)

Mak mags do not work in P-83. P-83 mags only.

Haven't ordered from J&G 'til now, what's their usual turn around time between 'order put in' and 'order shipping'?

I bought a couple PA-63s from them a couple years ago. I used a credit card and I think they shipped the next day after they got a copy of ffl from my dealer.
