Savage Axis .22-250

Post by juniustaylor »

I bought this a few days ago. It cost me $312 after tax. I put on Weaver bases and rings and a Tasco scope. Yeah yeah, I know Tasco isn't the greatest name, but I've had real good luck with cheap scopes. You'll see in the pictures below just how good. I have had good luck with cheap rifles. One that people rag on all the time is the Remington 770 series. Maybe I just got a good one. I bought one in .243 caliber for my wife and it shoots excellent with my handloads using H4895 and 100 grain Sierra Gameking bullets. Somewhere around the size of a nickel - quarter on 3-shot groups. This .22-250 did very good.

Those shots were at 100 yards. I put them 1.5" high which, based upon trajectory tables, should be be a 250 yard zero. I'll probably never know as there isn't much to shoot at 250 yards here in Missouri. When I shot it off sandbags, the group opened up a bit, must have been me. 4 shots were around a quarter, so it was probably 1 1/2" - 1 3/4".
