The Beretta 950 BS is a single action pistol, it as a safety on the left side, at the rear of the slide, with a loaded magazine/clip simply rack the slide, the hammer will be in the cocked position, push the safety up to lock the trigger, it is now in "condition 1" or "cocked and locked". Since the Beretta 950BS also has a pop up barrel, a round can be loaded into the barrel and closed, and the hammer put in full cock also and then the safety engaged for cocked and locked also.

The safety on the Beretta 950BS locks the sear and prevents trigger pull, since the trigger cannot be pulled the hammer cannot be lowered either. The safety, by blocking the sear, also restricts the hammer and slide so neither can be moved. To fire, simply drop the safetey and squeeze the trigger.

Note: The Beretta 950BS also has a half cock position that prevents the hammer from striking the firing pin, the safety can also be applied to the half-cocked hammer.

Personally, I'd carry it condition 1 based on the sear/trigger block and half cock. I carry a Yugo M57 Tok condition 1 based on the same.

From the half cocked position, safety on, can you drop the safety and pull the trigger for the thing to fire or would you need to pull it to the fully cocked position.

I'm considering several mouse guns including the baby browning or clone and the beretta 950 as i really do like to pocket carry small guns.

Holding a Beretta 21A Bobcat up to the screen it and the 950BS look almost like twins. The only noticable difference is the trigger and 21A appears to have a few more slide serrations.

If you can live with carrying a .22 the Bobcat is worth considering. It is tiny and lightweight. Only downside I've found is that it can be very picky about ammo.

Half cocked and safety on, when you take off the safety in this condition you would still have to cock the hammer back to fire it.

I dont care for 22 pocket pistols, except for my naa min which is a sa revolver. Just not reliable and the beretta is difficult to clear if it does jam-- I had a taurus pt-22 which was pretty reliable with the right ammo but that is not good enough for me.

I failed to mention, my Beretta 950 is a 25cal, if a decent deal comes up on a 950 in 22lr I'll probable try to grab it, it came with two mags and thanks to a close friend I now have three mags for it. For a up close get in your face confrontation, I feel very comfortable with my Beretta 950 in 25cal or 22lr, there is a 22 short also that I wish I had too.
