Informal email-in shooting competition

Post by redfestiva »

I like this target, simple, it's off one of the above links and is printable. Actually as long as everyones target diameter was the same it would'nt really matter if they were identicle would it? I'm just thinking in case someone could'nt get a print out for some reason. We could just say it must be 6" or 9" or whatever. In that case someone could even draw a circle on paper with a compass in a pinch.

Should we send the targets to an "objective" 3rd party for "judging"? Isn't that why many call them "postal matches", because you shoot 3 targets of 5 shots each and send the best through the mail for scoring/judging? I mention this only because I've seen pictures downloaded that are huge, others that are tiny and I have a good idea that the technical abilities of some of our members isn't extremely high. No offense meant as I'm one of the less intelligent when it comes to that but unless there is a target with 1 hole in the center of the bullseye where 5 rounds all entered it may be difficult to judge/measure with just downloaded photos.

I know this is a friendly competition but now bragging rights will be involved..."The Winner of the 1st Annual Unofficial P-64 Independence Day Shoot"...so don't we want to be as accurate as we can?

Just a suggestion.

This the first target on the list on Makarov.com, as long as the guys edit the pictures to this( message board ( 640 x 480 ) it should alright, the mail takes to long , and this way all can be judges and can have a vote Image

any other ideas

I'm in, this sounds like fun. The only way this would work is that everyone agrees in the honor system.

Can someone please verify what target we will use and let everyone know. I've seen about 10 different ones so I'm just going to wait patiently.

I'd go along with the one Normsutton suggested. The 1" grids would settle close calls. Postiing them on the forum would make it much easier than using snail mail.

Sounds good to me. Now all I got to do is measure off 10 yrds. and tell the next door neighbors to bring in the dogs and watch out! I love living in a sub divison!

Good Idea.

Would judging be smallest group size or points in the rings. Or points in rings and tie breaker/s be group size.?
