Took my P64 apart for cleaning today and attempted to reassemble the slide, somehow it's jammed half on and half off and won't move forward or backward. What happened and how do I fix it? This is my first P64.

Mike I have had this happen also.

Your slide stop on the left side of the frame probably was not flush to the frame when you went to reassemble.

I make sure it is seated and then turn the frame to the side so gravity keeps it in place while mounting the slide.

I had to use a leather glove on my right hand while holding the pistol at about a 45 degree angle and got a better grip on the slide to get it off after it got stuck half way on.

Are you using the stock spring or a Wolf replacement? The Wolf spring needs to have the end ground flat like the stock spring.

Okay, after a couple of hits on the front of the slide with a dead-blow hammer, I managed to get the slide to come off without any kind of damage. Thanks to all for the info.
