slide stop needed?

Post by Tokyo Joe »

New member here!
I need a slide stop for the P64.
Where can I find one?
The one in the gun will slip down a little when the slide is off the gun,
and I have to press it up and in to get the slide back on the frame.
I guess I need to replace it.
Gun runs perfectly anyway.
Thanks!

sounds pretty much like mine. Gotta keep an eye on it to make sure it stays in place while the slide is off. I think that is normal. At least from all the others that have said the same thing about the slide stop.

Yup, like Ketch said, perfectly normal. Happens on mine too. As a matter of fact most of my blow back milsurps have the same system. You need to be careful because they do come off quite easily. When I clean it I make sure I'm pressing on the front of it to keep it in place.

+2 it happens to me also.

I make sure it is seated and then turn the frame to the side so gravity keeps it in place while mounting the slide.

I think, IMO, that you only have to worry when it STOPS holding the slide back after the last round. Slipping a bit on disassembly, as many stated above, is fairly normal.

As noted, a little bit is okay. However if you feel it is excessive and/or it stops holding the Slide open; Then you probably need to replace the Slide Stop Spring. Norm makes a better Spring sold here: http://www.p64resource.com/goods.php

In most cases it's the Spring that is going bad, not the actual Slide Stop itself.
