Trouble finding an extractor/safety detent spring?

Hi. So I made the age old mistake of field stripping my P 64 and having the extractor spring get lost. Now I read on an earlier thread that a safety detent spring works as well. My problem is I can't find any, and the only ones I can find are the gunbroker springs that are too big.
Can a new guy get some help?

Is this not what you are looking for?

I can't vouch for the seller though.

Also the one for a PPK might work as well if you can't find a P-64 one.

I already bought the gunbroker spring, it was too wide :/
Do you think the PPK spring would work?

Or better yet, is there a way to make the spring not as wide?

I'm not understanding this.

What spring exactly did you get? Do you have a link directly to the one that you got? Do you have pictures of the one you got? It sounds like someone sent you the wrong spring.

Also Gunbroker is like eBay. Everything is sold by different sellers/users. What one has might be different that what another has.

Also here are some useful manuals here that help with reassembly.

Maybe you should contact the seller of the spring you got and let them know that they sent you the wrong spring. They might have mixed it up and still have the right spring.

New to the P-64, but long time Makarov and Walther PP owner. I bought a few P-64s the other day and while reassembling them after the cosmoline removal ritual I lost the Safety Detent Spring. Not my first rodeo and ashamed I didn't use the large Ziploc trick. Anyway, after hours of searching gunbroker, Numrich and other sources that didn't have what I need I went into my toolbox. I grabbed an AR15 stock front sight post and eyeballed the skinny spring. Bottom Line: It works great! Cut a Stock AR15 Front Sight Detent Spring between 3/8'' to no more than 1/2'', lightly crimp the end if you want your detent pin to fit snug on the spring, and insert it into your P-64 slide.

I fully intend on finding that OEM spring in my garage or online, but having a disassembled gun is like a nagging sore to me. Hopefully this will help other novices who have launched their spring and cannot find one online or one at a reasonable price. AR15 parts are in abundance and can work in a pinch. If you don't have an AR15 front sight spring laying around, PSA is selling as of today for $1.99 a piece.

See Below for Original Spring and Modified AR15 Spring.
