7 Lb Double Action Trigger Pull

Post by Sowa »

Does anyone have any ideas on how to take the DA pull down to 7 lbs. Leave single action where its at and still hit primers hard enough to fire ?

I see that no one has answered this one yet.

Because of the design, it just can't happen. Anything you do to lighten the DA will equally lighten the SA and, perforce, impart less energy to the hammer (and therefore the firing pin).

To do what you want, you'd need to only shoot it in SA. Maybe thumbcock it before firing.

If you were especially adventuresome, you could reengineer the firing mechanism so that you could set it to a real "half-cock" position and still carry it with the safety engaged. But then it wouldn't really be the P64.

Pulling the hammer back is part of the draw.

+1 I would not want to count on getting that right during a stress situation.
