Mahovsky's Metalife Finish

Post by Hurryin' Hoosier »

Has anyone had this "metalife" finish applied to a handgun? Would you recommend it for a pocket-carry pistol? Is it better than electroless nickel plating?

I have a friend who swears by it.

Hard chrome is definitely more durable than nickel and nickel is pretty hard.

Well, my P-64 is now on its way to Ron Mahovsky for a Brush Satin Metalife make-over. (Somehow that name sounds appropriate! )

FWIW, my hard chromed P64 (when it returns from Ron Mahovsky) will be equipped with a pair of Dennis Marschalko's checkered walnut grips (the short version), a magazine bottom from which I've ground/sanded the pinky extension, and will ride in a Robert Mika pocket holster. Can't wait!

That's why the "electoless nickel plate" has become so popular. No copper sub-plate. Direct bonding to the steel.
