Trigger guard spring replacement ARRGH

Post by superferrite »

Besides chucking this puppy in a vise to precompress the guard, is there any technique you wizards can divulge to me? My fingers are super sore and I still have a baggie of parts instead of a working pistol...

Try using TV cable, cause of its soft outer covering, and a screw driver. Wrap it so you can use the screw driver to tighten the cable turning the screwdriver through a loop from the top of the pistol with the slide on.
Use a large loop with a few turns to start with so it will not get tight immediatley and you can have some control of the pressure. Slip cable where it needs to be on the handguard during this and be careful that the triggerguard is moving and not bending.

I ended up using one of those threaded screw-tighened hose clamp. Worked like a charm!
