p-64 firing pin

Post by donnerwetter58 »

I just spoke to Harrington Products to arrange a visit to show them a firing pin.
I was advised they have purchased a P-64 of their own for a sample and my visit was not necessary.
I expressed a need for safeties as well as firing pins.
They should be more than capable of producing these.
The gentleman was a pleasure to deal with.
Maybe we'll have parts in the future.

Very nice. Thanks for your legwork on this donnerwetter. I love my P64s but would feel a lot better with some of the spare parts readily available.

Funny - I was just having a conversation this weekend regarding Harrington's interest in making P64 parts - I wondered aloud why they just didn't buy one and use it for modeling new parts. I guess my mother-in-law was right when she said, "Great minds think alike and fools seldom differ".

irishbob,
The thanks goes to you. You started the ball rolling at Harrington.
We'll see what happens.

To paraphase Ronald Reagan, "It's amazing what you can accomplish when you don't care who gets the credit".

I think success in any endeavor is accomplished through the synergy of a group of folks with a common purpose. I'm just happy not to be the guy going to Indiana - it's too cold. I'll stay in Virginia Beach in my nice, warm Irish Pub.

Put me down for a firing pin or two depending on cost and a safety if that is the other common thing that breaks on these guns. I bid on a p-64 parts kit on gunbroker but let the other guy have it for 85 bucks mostly because I saw this thread. Surely a spare firing pin and safety won't cost 85 bucks.

Noob here.

I have been thinking about a P-64, but the parts issue is what has been holding me up. It looks like I will have to take the plunge if the 2 most troublesome parts will likely be available.

I emailed Harrington yesterday to voice my support for them taking a wack at making parts for this gun. I also referenced this board as the go to place for info on this gun.
Maybe if a few more of us sent them emails full of support it would inspire them to get on this sooner then latter.
Just a thought.

There email is here.

I got a response from them yesterday.

From
Claude Harrington,

I have received my P-64, have removed the firing pin and yes we will manufacture as soon as we get current production finished. We will probably do pins first and then safety. Will let you know when available. Thanks!

So It looks like things should be moveing shortly!!
