Safety Detent Spring?

Post by warthog »

Anyone know where one could be obtained? Seems like the pistol I am fixing doesn't have one. I bought it from a guy who told me he once had to replace the safety. I had a heck of a time removing the safety myself and when I finally did, it was apparent to me that it had been rigged somehow to stay in without the spring. The detent is there, it was shoved way back into the hole and I had to beat on the slide with my rawhide mallet to get it to come out, that is why I am certain the spring was not there.

I have no idea how he rigged the safety to stay in there and function the way he did. I took it apart because it was really sticky and a real PITA to try and use. I guess that was the reason...

Now I have a pistol that I can not use. :'(

Unless someone knows where I can get one of those pesky springs or what I can use in its stead.
You will be my hero if you are able to help me out. :-*

TIA

Thanks guys! I actually wound up making one out of an AR grip detent spring, just had to trim to length.
I will be making note of all the other places as well however...
