another safety problem

Post by lee2 »

well i shot my p64 finally using wolf silver bear ammo.
no ftf. yea!
however ocasionally, during firing, the safety would drop down.
at first i thought i had hit it, but i believe it is happening during recoil.
i think the safety plunger spring is compressing and allowing the safety to fall.
i popped the safety out, the detents dont looked buggered up and the plunger isnt sticking in the hole.
mabye a weak spring?
any ideas?
maybe some kind sole has a spare spring lying around that i can try.
thanks.

WOLFF has springs this is what you want

ULTRA HEAVY DUTY COIL SPRING PAK

Consists of 7 spring designs, 2 springs of each design. All springs are 6" in length. For use in 3/32" to 5/32" inside diameters. A must for many repair functions.

Lee2 -

I had the same problem at one point w/one of my P-64's - look through this thread:

http://p64.proboards67.com/index.cgi?bo ... 696&page=1

(goes on for quite a few pages)

Norm turned me on to an extractor pack of springs which I purchased from Wolff. One of them worked perfectly. There were 2 of them, so I should have a spare.

PM me your address and I'll send you one like I used (or the other half of it, gotta look)

I'll have to try this.
I'm not around much anymore but still stop by and yes, I still have my P-64.
I do need to get more ammo though as I'm down to two mags of ammo.
