Wood finish--Odd-ball idea No. 3,40.....

I have recently been on a Vicks Vaporub kick. It's great for warding off black flies and mosquitos. And....as a wooden grip/stock finish. Suggestion is to apply liberally or conservatively and warm with a hair dryer to liquify. Polish with cotton diaper; Wolf Wiping Cloth, Detroit. $50 for a ton.

Hey, Hawker, I tried Preparation H once - I liked the color and it helped shrink the pores in the wood . . . ;D ;D

Hey, my wife put some around here eyes one time, and "son-of-a-gun" the stuff did work to shrink the little lines! I asked her how she got the "ends" wrong where the Preparation H was supposed to go and how she told the difference. She chased me all over the house with that one, LMAORF

Got my purpleheart P-64 grips from Christian Bond today... They are AWESOME!!! Can't wait to take it out to the range and give it a run without the annoying ridge!!! Thanks for the great grips, Himmel and Himmel Jr.!!! (Can't post pics right now, due to my computer not liking my digital camera at the moment... Will try to post some as soon as I get it working again...)

THANK YOU

NORM

Does the grip on the bottom of this picture not fit the frame or is this my imagination? I see a sixteenth gap from frame to grip, top and side. I just sent a money order out today for grips, makes me nervous. I think it is a 1969 piece?

CB WILL REMAKE GRIPS IF THEY DON'T FIT RIGHT AT NO CHARGE

THERE IS SOME WOOD THAT YOU MAY OR MAY NOT HAVE TO TAKE OFF ON THE UNDERSIDE OF BACK STRAP SO YOU CAN COCK THE HAMMER , THESE HAPPEN TO BE PIX OF OLD GRIPS
AND THE PIX ARE NOT THAT GOOD.

CB DOSE NICE WORK AND STANDS BEHIND HIS WORK

Thanks for the reassurance and the tip about the backstrap. The escutcheon screws you recomended in earlier post, can they be countersunk in existing holes that he puts in the grips or did you fill them and resink new holes, or order them without holes and do it yourself?

TRUTH
I let him drill holes. I all so ordered the counter sink bit with the escutcheon and screws
makes it much easier , you have to drill out the hole in the frame one drill bit bigger too, so you can get screw in you can almost twist the drill bit by hand or vise grips but a hand drill is better at slow speed.

I have also used the escutcheon's with zee grips too

I think I have some pix of them too on this forum

Hi guys--Thanks for the good words Norm...and the pics! I told Christian about the backstrap thing--he is a little confused, he always fits the grips on my P64 and makes sure they don't interfere with the action, either single or double, before he sends them out. What exactly is the problem? Is it a matter of each pistol being a little different maybe? Like Norm said, he will make any problem right, but it would be better to eliminate any defect in the first instance...Thanks again--
