Fiocchi 12ga Buck Shot

Post by papabear »

Awhile back at a gun show in Fla, I bought a 10rd box of Fiocchi 12ga 2-3/4" #4 buck shot nickel plated that comes in a see-through clear hull, got it mainly for home defense. According to the box its rated at 1325fps; same as the Winchester super X 12ga 00buck. Of course your generally comparing a 0.243"/6mm in the Fiocchi #4 buck to 0.323"/8mm in the Win 00 buck. The Fiocchi does not have shot buffer/filler in the #4 buck, but Winchester does have the shot buffer/filler in theirs which for me for home defense doesn't mean squat. The Fiocchi does seem to have a little more kick than the Winchester super X 00 buck out of my Remy 870 20" but not a big deal as far as I'm concerned; I have tried it from the shoulder and holding down by my hip and no problem for me either way, would think in a real HD situation it wouldn't be a issue anyway. I finally made it to the range and using a unfolded cardboard box tested it out at 7yds and 10yds, the large hole of course is the wad.
