P64 shoulder holster

Post by prangr51 »

After searching for a p64 shoulder holster i gave up when I found none for under $60, so I decided id give it a run and make one. Now keep in mind this is my FIRST attempt at this. I am the guy who failed art class all his life and i managed to make something respectable, so go at it!

That looks like a good solution. Is it hand sewn and did you just soak the leather and let it dry over your gun?

Ya its hand sewn, but a drill for the holes helped alot. I wet the leather down and molded it around the gun, using a hair dryer to speed things up

First off, it's not bad at all for being a first attempt. Hopefully it will stay tight. If the leather does loosen up, and it possibly will, you can always add a retention strap to hold it in place. It wouldn't take a lot of effort to make one and put a snap on it. Great job!

The retention is ok. I will have to add a strap at some point. The leather i used was light at 4 oz, so it flexes easily. I am going to order some heavier stuff soon

Looks pretty good. any idea of the cost and time put into it? my old man is the same way... he doesn't want to spend $80 on a shoulder harness, but wants one. and doesn't like to order stuff online because he paranoid of having his identity stolen. :? so maybe a home made one by his loving son would kill two birds for fathers day. :)

I purchased a shoulder holster from Laukart on gun broker. He had two and I got one. It is an original issue and is nice, total cost $30.
Check GunBroker and look at his other listings, there may be one left.
