Made a holster fit nicely

Post by exe »

I was reading threads on here about finding a holster for my P64 and then I saw a thread earlier today about someone who wet a leather holster and made it fit to the P64.. the idea came to me..

I had an extra JIT holster for a gun I no longer owned (Think it was a Kel Tec 9mm..) I wet the holster down, put my P64 in 2 ziplock plastic bags, fit it into the holster and went to work with a round metal dull tool.. fitting it to the P64.

I was shocked... It came out pretty good.. almost looks like it was made for it.. so here are some pics of my P64 in its new holster.

The gun itself, is a 1971 that looked like it was brand new.. not even wear on the blueing. I think it looks nice in the holster.. and hey, it beat spending money :)

Some pics.. excuse the lame camera phone but its what I use for now for pics.

Well I just tried it on, it fits great and held its shape VERY well.. it dried up nice and hard, so the gun seems to snap into the holster and it retains it well.

It was super easy, just wet the thing down (I let it soak in the sink), put the gun in a bag, and push the leather around to fit the shape of the gun. After a short time, I removed the gun, and put the holster in the oven at 180 and let it sit. It shrunk down a tiny bit so its a nice fit and not lose at all.

Next up, to get myself some of those nice wood grips :)
