Free Ballistic Calculators...
This one is very advanced and lets you figure variables "on the fly" meaning you can change variables such as wind speed, direction, velocity of bullet, etc. and it will display your changes accordingly on the chart.

This one is easier to use and will yield pretty much the same results.
http://www.hornady.com/ballistics-resou ... calculator

This is a short tutorial using the Norma one. This is figuring my .243 Winchester Model 100. Using a Speer 100 gr SBT with 40.8 gr of Reloder 17. This is just all for example.

The bullet traveling over 2,800 FPS gives it a BC (ballistic coefficient according to Speer) of .430. That particular powder charge will yield roughly 3,044 FPS at the muzzle. So, using all three of these numbers (100 gr. bullet, .430 BC, and 3,044 muzzle velocity) we can put them in the calculator.

Click OK next to "Define your own bullit"

Insert the Ballistic Coefficient and the Grain Weight of the bullet and click OK next to Weight gr. In this case my BC was .430 and Grain Weight 100 gr.

I set my Zero range at 200 yards using the slider scale. Change the velocity using the slider. It may be out of your screen area but you can click where it says Muzzle Velocity and drag your mouse left or right to decelerate or accelerate. Change any other variables you may have and the chart will change.

Here I have moved the yard position marker to 100 yards. My zero range is still 200 yards, but you can use that marker to view different yardages to see how your bullet will "rise" or "fall" depending on the yardage.

It's all very simple, it takes a couple minutes to research your load information and then input it in the calculator. The Hornady one is pretty straight forward, but it won't let you change variables without going back to the main screen to change the info.

There are several free references you just have to do a little digging to find them. If I come up with more, I'll post them here.
