As I read your post Norm I looked out my office window here and my "lawn mower" was hard at work.
My wife insist on green year round here. In the summer it is Sahara Bermuda and all the water we can pump.....from now till spring it is rye grass from Washington State. I only maintain about 2 acres around the house. The rest stay natural Texas burnt up and dead :)
Here is my lawn mower from about 15 minutes ago.

Yeah I agree....freezer can only hold so much Turkey, Venison, Quail, Wild Pork and Catfish.

Once or twice a year I have a wild game cook here at the ranch. All my buddies and their families come. We fed about 150 people a few months ago. All they could eat. I provide the meat(s) and the folks coming bring whatever vegetables/fruits they have grown. That is the rule...all home grown and natural. Absolute feast. Amazing what some of these country gals can do with squash and corn.

I am planning on taking my 1912 Chilean 308 mauser to the range tomorrow. After seeing your rework on the stock I am going to have to clean mine up after I get back from the range.

Good looking rifle

I got one of those back in the 80s. Good brush carbine. I discarded the factory stock and acraglas bedded it into one of the 30 Sporter stocks Century was selling back then. I shortened that a little and added a rubber recoil reducer butt pad. Fitted a sling with quick detach swivels but it doesn't rattlel much anyway. Then I took a tenth of an inch off the rear sight which made it dead on at 100 yards. Finished weight is about 6.25 lb. Using 170 gr. Rem soft points I have taken at least a dozen deer with it. These days it is a good loaner gun if a friend wants to come hunting and doesn't have a good deer gun of her own.
