the 41 Swiss Vetterli rifle

the 41 Swiss Vetterli rifle

for the 2 or 3 month's I started collecting and shooting the 41 Swiss Vetterli rifle, its kind of a ugly duckling , but once you shoot one ,it probably will become your favorite rifle as has become mine
these rifles are to me the most accurate Black powder cartridge rifles ever produced , and you can load them with smokeless powder,

it is a rim fire rifle, it is very easy to covert to center fire, this is some of the ways http://telecom.hartford.edu/swiss/vetterli.htm

or you can send the bolt out to a guy that reloads this cartridge
http://www.gadcustomcartridges.com/

there are bullet moulds and reloading dies available , brass can be made from the 8 x 50 R Lebel brass

here is one of mine

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and I think it is beautiful. What a wonderful old rifle. Your are the lucky one to own it. Looks like it shoots like it was new and keep up the good work. More fun to own something like the Swiss 41 than to buy something new off the shelf and just shoot . I can't believe how well it shoots, you sure are going to have some fun with it.

sight on Vetterli
I just put these on yesterday
had to raise the front sight so I don't have to use an aim point that's 6 in's low, I think I have it at the right height now

I can attest to how well Norm has done these rifles. a few of us were able to get em to the range and they are tack drivers. I had never really thought much about em but they are really works of craftsmanship and art..

Al, you photo hound, I think I took that pic of your shooting Norm's Vetterli, thanks for the bribe for taking it..... ... yelp, Norm's Swiss Vetterli was sweet to shoot, we all got to shoot it, one sweet shooting rifle, especially after Norm converted it from BP to smokeless. A big plus for Al and myself on that visit at Norm's was getting to see how he restored and made replacement parts for the Vetterli, he is one gifted guy.

During our visit with Norm, he also made and put on a "Don't Tread On Me" rattle snake on my Ruger Vaquero 44mag and he also made the holster for it too. Norm made one for Al also [rattle snake] but mine is the only one Norm engraved his initials on ....... tee hee

My brother was given one of these Vetterli rifles by a customer... we are planning to do the conversion and start loading for it early next year! Nice to know there are some folks here that already have experience!
