Finally found a pretty nice M38 with correct stock and all matching numbers.

I didn't want to screw it up by sanding and doing a total refinish so I just steel wooled the old shellac and put on some new Bullseye amber. It's counter bored and the bore isn't exactly new but I'm sure it will shoot just fine.

Heading to the range....

That is great! Looks like you got a really nice one. I just ordered one from J&G this past week. Can't wait for it to get here. Let us know how it does at the range.

you got a real nice one, nice job on the finish also, you can hardly tell. My Mosins are a lot of fun to shoot, real head turners at the range too, especially the M44. There is so much milsurp ammo available for these rifles, I have pretty much a lifetime supply!

Thanks for the kind words.

I did get a chance to take it to the range. Shoots as expected but I didn't really have time to get it signeted in properly. Maybe this weekend I can get a little more bench time in and take some video.

space, that is one fine looking rifle. What year is it? I think you made a good decision to leave it as is and just remove the exterior finish.Give us a range report. Some more pics would be nice too. That video sounds good. Looking foreward to seeing it.
