Got my "Bocote" grips from Grip Guys today, couldn't get em on my 1911A1 RIA Tactical quick enough. Had to do a tad of trimming on the left side panel to get it to fit under the ambidextrous safety but other wise they fit great. I really like the feel of em. Supper set of grips for $20.00 delivered.

It's so funny with grips. I like wood grips to be checkered, period. BUT, when you have wood THAT gorgeous....you just have to leave it SMOOTH

How do you like your RIA Tactical? I was looking at getting one a month or so ago but bought my AR instead.

papa bear, That looks good. I usually lean towards checkered grips myself, but if you had done that, some of the wood grain may have been hidden. I really like that. What was on it before?

I have checkered grips on some of my other .45, but when it comes to "looks" the checkered ones IMO take away from the gain in the wood. To answer "mamcdonald" question about my RIA Tactical, in a word, ILOVEIT...... ;D. These are the grips that came with the RIA when I got it, they are the originals.

The originals look ok but I think you did good with the Bocote. The lighter color gives it a better look. like having a new gun.
