CZ82 from Aim

Post by papabear »

Finally got around to ordering a CZ82, got it in time to take it with me on our trip to FL. Got to take it to a range and try it out, I was impressed with the the CZ82, the feel and handling was really nice, and with the paragonal barrel the accuracy was surprisingly very good. The day we shot it was cool, damp and windy, but no hill for a climber. Used S&B 95gr ammo and at 50ft I shot a 5" group with a free two hand grip. Recoil was fine, and it didn't move around in my hand, stayed put and second shot recovery was quick. I was very impressed with the CZ82 as it is dubbed by the improters, in Czech land its called a vz82, what ever, its a fine handgun, wish I had gotten one sooner.

Very nice vz82.
I've managed to get a pair of them from AIM.
The first a couple years ago. A 1994 imported by PW Arms in excellent condition.
The second was purchased a few months ago when AIM had them for $200. This one, a 1988, was imported by Century (CAI).
It's not as nice as the first. Looking a bit like it was "refinished" with a spray can.
Both are reliable, accurate shooters. The grip is very much CZ-75 in feel. Double action pull is light and smooth compared to a P-64. The 12 round magazine is nice. The ambidextrous magazine release is different.
Neither have had any problems with Silver Bear FMJ or JHP.
My 9x18 collection consists of a PA-63, P-64 and the vz82's.
If size were no consideration, I'd pick the vz82 every time.
The CZ will grow on you pretty quickly. Every 9x18 shooter should have one.

Papabear, The more I look at your 82 the more I'm convinced that it is trick photography or it was re-finished somewhere. It doesn't even look like the black "painted" finish on my CZ82. Your's looks like a steel gray colored blued finish...just gorgeous! I thought mine was in excellent condition but it just doesn't look as good as yours does!!

Mine looks like carguy's. It's a good shooter. My daughter likes it best of my 9x18's, and I like it least so it will probably be hers. Well, maybe I like it better than the PA-63...

I have:
(3) P-64's
(2) Makarovs
(1) CZ-82
(1) PA-63
(1) SMC-918 (which I haven't shot yet)

carguy,

I promise you its not trick photography, I took it on my work bench with a shop light above and desk lamp light shinning in the back ground, its painted just like yours, it does have a nice paint job though. Its a 1989 and imported by TGI, Knoxville, Tn. with the circle T on the right side of the slide, its is in Excellent condition. If you look close, someone had painted the front sight white and the [r]ear sight with two white dots, I have since taken white paint off. I'm thinking very seriously about getting a set of Dennis grips for it.

[2] P-64's '69 & '76

[2] Makarov's Bulgie '97 and E. German '62

[1] CZ82 '89

I believe they were issued with the white paint. Both of mine have it.

Here's the Vz.82 in comparison to a P-64:

bzinggg,

Thanks for the info, I didn't realize that they came that way, it wasn't hard to remove the white paint, I just didn't care for it. How are things in Texas?

wow, Texas got cold before Georgia? We (Georgians) must be in our own little Georgia shaped weather bubble, where the temperature is jumping all over the place and we can't get any rain...

blinddog,

You won't be sorry for getting a CZ-82, they are a very nice handling and shooting pistols, with the polygonal barrel they are POA, I don't know why I waited so long to get one, everyone I know that has one really likes em.
