New M91/30 !

Post by volfandan »

papabear,

thanks for the great link.....very interesting. I didn't realize that there are essentially (at least, I guess) two more mosin carbines -the 91/59 and the 91/38 to go along with the 44 and 38. Pretty cool.

carguy,

maybe I need to do a "buy it now" and sell it to one of the collectors on Gunboards. Too bad my C&R hasn't come back yet! Check it out:

There are also plenty of non Russian mosin nagants numbering well over a dozen

here's a quote from 7.62x54r.net

"M91/30s were also cut down, probably by the Soviet Union and are known as M91/59s. They are usually on round receivers, but hexagonal ones are known. The easiest way to recognize an M91/59 is the rear sight which is the old M91/30 leaf with all graduations above 10 milled off. Neither of these cut down carbines has a folding bayonet or were issued with a separate bayonet."

To be honest, the Mosin Nagant is not the most beautiful rifle in the world. It is/was an old design that lasted waaaaay beyond its expected life as a battle rifle. BUT, the rifle is rugged, easy to master, can be operated and cleaned by anyone, and still operate!

The MN does what it was made for. I have a 91/30 all matching 1942 and the recently purchased M-44 carbine. This is one rifle that most anyone can afford (now the problem is affording ammo, LOL), it is reasonably accurate, fun to shoot, and just a great firearm to own. What other rifle can give this much pleasure for the price?

If you carry that "ramp, lifle...whatever you want to call it", is it considered concealed carry or disguised carry? ??? ::) :P

carguy,

maybe you can get away with a high-cap assault lamp in Mass.??? Just make sure you have an approved lampshade.

I think the Mass law allows no more than 10 lamp shades unless they were made prior to 1994...then anything goes!! :P
