Got my new M44 from Classic Arms today.
Really nice 1945 Laminated one.
Metal is perfect and all numbers matching. Not forced match or electric pencil stuff.
Not sure what all the markings mean yet. This is my first M44 (serial number blurred via photoshop)
Tried to get a pic of the bore. It's really nice and looks new. Camera work leaves a lot to be desired...
It's going to be a nice 4th of July with my new flame thrower ;D

Nice looking specimen. It's fun to shoot, and is an attention getter!
The laminates are less common. Yours was made at the Izhevsk Arsenal which also made the SKS and AK47, that's the triangle with the arrow inside under the s/n. Check this site:

It's full of info on the Mosin, and the owner, Ted, is very helpful and knowledgable.

Yep, been lurking at 7.62x54r.net most of the evening.
Is it possible that I have a chrome lined barrel. Sure looks like it to me but I have never heard of that before. There is even chrome on the end of the barrel just like on my AK. Looks new. Tried to take a picture but it came out pretty bad.

I really like Classic, Ben has been pretty nice to me...I only wish he were able to stock more ammo. I like to support those that businesses (large or small) that take care of me.Space

Any of the Mosins are great rifles! They may not be the prettiest, but they are accurate and fun to shoot. You have a nice M44!

Tell me if I'm right on this-- I read somewhere that you either have to take the bayonet off completely, or shoot with it extended--if you shoot with it folded back along the barrel it makes some kind of vibrations that throw the accuracy off, something like 5 or 6 inches at 100 yards

RB
I've heard that to but not sure about the 5 or 6 in off at 100 yards
the M38 RIFLES have no bayonet and supposed to be preferred by hunter's
but cost a little more

The M44's were zero'd in with the bayonet extended, I don't know/think that removing them will somehow correct the zero, but I could be wrong.

Spent most of the week with my new M44 and got a chance to get up the Cabin and try her out. Doesn't kick nearly as hard as my 45-70 but it's a flame thrower
When cleaning it, I got some brake cleaner on the stock (I know, I know, i'm stupid ) and messed it up a bit so I figured I would refinish it. Sanded off all the shellac and stained with the closest matching color I could come up with and finished it off with 6-8 coats of Tru-Oil. I sanded off the handling marks (a couple near the trigger guard where it was sitting in the crate) but left all of the stampings. Hope the Mil-Surp Gods aren't angry with me

Your M44 makes mine look very sad. You have a fine looking piece there.
