Guys,

I saw this on another Forum and thought it was good information on the stories about oil, lubes, etc. killing primers. Take a look at this link and decide for yourself. Link is: http://www.theboxotruth.com/docs/bot39.htm

I've wondered about that before....I usually make sure that all parts of my gun are at least lightly oiled. Now I'm not worried about it!

I had always read that WD-40 left in the chamber of a revolver would kill the primers quickly, but I always wondered how in the world it could "creep" that far. I don't think a firearm shuld be dipped in WD-40 and then loaded, but at least this experiment shows the condition is not what I had been told in the past.

I have always been real careful around loaded ammo with WD 40 or any other oil
almost to the point where I'd take the bullet apart if I suspected any oil got on them.

Norm, Yea, I have always done the same as you, and will continue to also! I understand the testing done, but I won't take a chance.....maybe I am too set in my ways.....or is it just old age, LMAO!

Good reading, I was taught not to oil ammo. Oil can cause a ftf. Now I look at it in kind of a different light. I still oil my firing pin.

I (and my girlfriend) carry sealed ammo - always. whether it comes sealed from the factory or I have to seal the primers and case mouths with primer sealer that I bought from MidwayUSA, my carry ammo is sealed. Solves the oil problem.
