United Defense Mags.

Post by Sirrus_Rider »

Ordered up one more and received it Friday 1/11 ; however, I didn't get around to testing it until last night. I thought I would have to modify it like the first one I bought. Quite strangely, it went into my '68 gun without modification! Dimension-ally it's identical to the first one before modification so I'm not sure what was different..

Thank you for the update. I am going to buy a couple here today.

I see a pair of original surplus mags going for $100+ on ebay?! Glad I got my other surplus mags for $30 a piece, even though I think that is ridiculous.

Has been discussed in many other threads. The earlier iteration of these are know as the "Keep Shooting" aftermarket magazines. They have been plagued with issues. Buy at your own risk!

Thanks I think I ran into some at the gun show. Guy tried to tell me they were original surplus mags. Except that they had no numbers etched on them. At $35 each I let them pass

I received my P64 mags. I have yet to try them out. They look identical in shape and form to the 3 original P64 mags I have. I will keep everyone posted after I give them a go.

They will work fine most likely. The biggest issue is that the box metal would warp out of shape over time and use, especially at the feed lips.

I tried out my mags today. Finally.

Each mag I tried (I only bought two) worked fine after one noticeable first issue. The first round did not chamber completely, and the slide had to be tapped into battery with my palm. Each mag only did this for the first round, and not any subsequent rounds while cycling, nor for any first round from subsequent fully loaded mag strings. Strange, but I think they just needed to break in a bit.

Note: My pistol has never had this issue with the factory mags.

Thus far, I would say I am happy with the purchase.
