Snap caps

Hello everyone.

I was wondering if someone has found, or is making, a snap cap that works well for the 9x18. I am aware that A-Zoom makes some but I never liked those in auto loaders as I found them to get deformed rather quickly.

Are there any other companies making some out of good brass or nickel case and/or does anyone have a good recommendation for making some at home? My main objective is to protect the firing pins on my older cold war semi-autos then second being checking functioning.

Sorry if this has been covered before!

Thanks in advance for your time and effort on this.

The A-Zoom ones are the only ones I know of. They have worked great for me. Have not had any problems with them.

Using Azoom and am careful to clear any aluminum chips from the gun when done. Haven't been able to find any others.

Thanks everyone. My problem with the Azooms and auto loaders is they get chewed up quickly form hard extractors or just from the cycling process. I was hoping there were some made from brass or any members had some good tips on making your own.

There's no reason you couldn't load your own using fired brass. I recommend using a rubber pencil eraser in place of the primer. I saw this method for rifle snap caps back in the 60s.

Why not use .380 snap caps? The extractor will hold the cap to the breach face as the cartridge dimensions are reeaally close. And the spring loaded primer will be in the same place to absorb the pin hit, AND because it is not a live round you don't have to worry about the problems of firing a .380 in a 9x18, and it can be done. And it should feed ok but if not just single load it, they won't get stuck in the chamber. I do it because I too do not like the AZoom's.

If your asking about using .380 snap caps in your 9x18, yes I do and it works.
