Flash Sale Casuality

Post by Ingramite »

Who could pass up a deal like $179.00 for a genuine P-64?
Not me!

I just checked my e-mail to find that my "new" P-64 just left Pineville NC headed to The Patriot Bunker here in the beautiful Texas Hill Country. I suckered for the $20.00 "hand select" option too. I reckon Saturday will be the big arrival.

I found and joined up last night and spent a few hours learning.
I'm a long time S&W Revolver and Beretta owner/shooter and I'm looking forward to this experience.

So now is the time to unload all of that hard earned wisdom and insight that you been hoarding up over there by you.
Advise and tips welcome.

I will be glad to come back and do a full range report.
I am a little concerned over the reports of "kick" and recoil.

The Scandium framed S&W .357 small frame snub nose was not a fun gun to shoot.
At least not with .357 loads. Heck, let's be honest here....warm .38's were not fun to shoot either.
Sure, I could put some soft rubber sofa cushion grips on it but that wasn't conducive to pocket carry.

My plan is to put some classy wood grips on this beautiful P-64.
I'll carry it often and shoot it seldom if it kicks me too bad.

Like tracking Santa on Christmas Eve....my pistol is in Memphis right now.
I hope I can get my hands on it tomorrow.

CLASSY WOOD GRIPS . Do you mean the ones made by MARSCHAL of Hungary :?:

I have a set of their grips on one of my P-64's. Excellent workmanship and fit.

Only problem is that after you place your order, be ready to wait a good 3 to 5 months for them. Yes, I did say MONTHS :!: If you are in not hurry, then I would say that they are worth the wait time.

I'm trying to post a photo or two without much luck.
My New P-64 is here and it's beautiful 1970 but it looks brand new.
Matching serial number magazine too.

Yes Sir, your P-64 does look very, very nice.

Now I am wishing that my P-64 from Classic looked as good. LOL

I will admit that the P-64 you have received from Classic looks much nicer that what I expected to see.
Looks like you got very lucky my friend. :D

Thus, I just inquired at Classic asking them if they had another P-64 in stock, but that it would have to be classified as PRISTINE condition. I told them that Pristine in this Pollacks mind, looks like new and possibly never fired.

If they have such a one, then I will buy it. Now looking forward to their reply.

Range Day

Post by Ingramite »

I took my P-64 out to my buddy's ranch this morning.
I wanted to get out there before the heat of the day.

I understand that things like felt recoil and trigger pull depend on a lot of factors.
Many of these factors are personal. How does that translate to me personally?
Hard to tell without throwing some lead downrange with me at the controls.

Trigger pull....
This will be a defensive carry pistol for me. All of my guns are working guns and I wanted this P-64 to be no different.
It has to be able to earn it's keep if it is going to stay here with me. I have quite a few handguns but none of them are pristine or collectable. While my P-64 is pristine and collectable, I had to see how it would do in the harness.

Being a carry gun, with a clear understanding of handgun defensive and combat considerations, I consider a stiff double action trigger pull to be a very good thing. It's like another safety, revolver style....so? I'm good with the double action pull, just like it is. It's not a range gun and with those T-tiny sights....it won't ever be mistaken for one.

Recoil....
Again, this is a personal thing. Personally? I'm ok with the recoil on the P-64. I'm going to leave things just as they are for now. No Wolf Springs for me, at least for now. I have fired other blow back design guns in .380, so I had an idea of what to expect. It's "snappy" but at the same time, it's reassuring to know you are spitting a respectable chunk of lead downrange at a decent velocity that can deal a deadman's hand with center mass shot placement.

Accuracy?
It shoots better than I can hold it. This target is at 10 yards, two handed grip, elbows resting on the shooting bench.

I did have a couple of flyers but they were my error, not the gun.
