Yes you do. But fear not for our Very own Junius Taylor has this video made just for this and if you cannot do this after watching his vid..... well.
Go here and watch this. Easy peasy lemon squeezy. Even I did it after watching this.

If possible you can try to reassemble in a large clear plastic bag in-case parts decide to launch in to the unknown.

This has saved me on a couple of occasions.

Thank you - I'll check out the video. I think that I can create a kind of bag for reassembly, too. That would be fun. I'd feel like one of those scientists working with one of those virus/contamination things in a sci-fi-horror movie "Just let me reassemble this super-flu-vial into the right place....ooops"

Take that P-64 apart and you will be entering " Sci-Fi-Horror ".
Just kidding :!:
No where close to having the experience that other folk on this forum have. But even I have taken them apart and reassembled. Of course with the help obtained here and a couple of video's. :D

Well...

I field stripped it and the safety is busted and the outside of the firing pin channel is banged up really bad. I emailed and will call tomorrow to see if they will replace or return. Such a bummer after such a long wait - shipping, DROS, 10 day wait, driving to FFL...

UGH!

AIM is usually really customer oriented, so hopefully they work something out. I'll upload other photos when I can. It's amazing in every other way.

That sucks. Hopefully they will make it right. Can you post a picture with a little better lighting?

Yup, it's broke! Damn, thinking maybe that the safety had one too many drops and the safety barrel had a manufacturing defect in it. Sorry to see that. Let us know how it works out with AIM.

Yup, it's broke! Damn, thinking maybe that the safety had one too many drops / dry fires without a snap cap and the safety barrel had a manufacturing defect in it. Sorry to see that. Let us know how it works out with AIM.

Hello,

They are taking it back and giving a full refund, which is nice of them. But what else were they going to do? Lose a customer who buys 1000's of dollars in ammo every year for a $250 gun they can part out? ( at least, I hoped they'd see it that way). They are out of P64s, so no exchange for me. And because I am in CA - I have to pay for another FFL transfer and DROS, again. and shipping.... UGH.

So, I am going to buy ANOTHER P64 from Classic, J and G, or Southern Ohio Gun - any advice on who has the best rep?

I am leaning toward Classic, given I've heard good things about them. But Southern Ohio Gun also seems to have a solid rep.

I have had reasonable results with Classis although shipping was a bit slow on one purchase.
