My P-64 does not always chamber every round. After firing a couple of rounds the next round will slide into the chamber, but not fully until I give a little assistance. Do I need a stronger recoil spring?

Maybe. You have not given much information to go off of here. You may need a stronger Recoil Spring. But you may just need to clean out the chamber and/or the Cosmoline. With out know the history and details of your P-64 we can only speculate at multiple causes.

I have 2 of them and they both have the same problem. One is a 69 model and the other is a 70. I have cleaned them well, although I have not removed the firing pin or extractor on either. I did replace the main springs with the lighter wolff springs to lighten the DA trigger pull.

If your guns have not been fired much, you may want to polish the feed ramp. Mine was doing this on occasion when I first got it. Polished the feed ramp and chamber a little and now it functions perfectly. You may also want to make sure the rails are lubed.

I have polished them, but I did it by hand with a 3000 grit pad. The fixed barrel makes it tough to polish. Maybe a dremel tool with a polishing bit would make the job easier.

Yes I would go slow with the dremal.

What brand of ammo are you using and have you tried different brands to see if it replicates the issue on both P64's?

I have used Tula and Red Army and have the same problem with both. I was wondering why you never seem to hear of these problems with the Makarov? I have never had to polish my Makarov feed ramp and I don't seem to hear of anyone needing to change springs in one. Is it just the differeneces in the pistol designs?

I used a pencil eraser wrapped with 3000 grit Emory paper and went slowly when polishing my chamber and feed ramp. It took me about 20 minutes to get it mirror bright.

Again, check to be sure you have properly lubed the rails, look for any burrs on them or the slide that may be causing it to bind. There has to be a reason and I would look more at the gun than the ammo in this instance.

You may also need a stronger recoil spring.

I would do the polishing by hand because of the need to make sure you remove as little metal as absolutely possible.

I bought a cheap-o set of felt wheels, cones, balls and all kinds of shapes for about $10. I took my tool and used a conical-shaped felt bit (?) and used it. Being tapered it fit the ramp and chamber entrance easily and on an angle. Best ten bucks I'd spent in a while.
