Thoughts and hopes for those in the way of Irma

Post by Ketchman »

Hey everybody, put out your thoughts prayers and hopes for those in Irma's path. We have one of our own in danger, OG17, my buddy, is in Miami and I hope he is on his way out of there now as I have not heard from him since last night. :| And donate bucks for the cleanup 'cause there is gonna be a need. I know our Brotherhood is good people and have already helped out those that got nailed by Harvey, but this one looks much worse.
Good luck to all in the way.
And this is why I live in Wyoming, no 'canes!! :D

OG17 has been heard from again. He and his family are now just west of Tallahassee in Quincy, but he say's this bitch of a storm has something against him because if it tracks up the west coast like they think it will he will be dead in the crosshairs again! Said it took him 12 1/2 hours to drive there, twice the normal time. Now he is thinking he may have to bug out for Jacksonville to get out of the direct line of fire. Told him he oughta just get on a plane and come out here and ride it out.

OG17 has broken from cover and is headed back to the home site. He and his family stayed put in Talahassee until this am and then booked for home.

Much thanks to Ketch & Curly for the concern. It was an ordeal but at least we are safe. House just lost the wooden fence but no other structural damage. Many downed trees in the neighborhood and around town. Still many without power or water. The Keys and the west coast cities of Marco Island and Naples took the brunt of Irma and are devastated. For those who have experienced the destruction of a tornado a Cat 4 hurricane will destroy as much but in a much wider area and for a longer period of time. But what's not in a tornado is the storm surge which just brings sea water inland and floods low lying areas and is the main cause of fatalities. Just look at Texas with Harvey. Any help the brotherhood can give the victims of Harvey and Irma is going to be appreciated by them. Miami was fortunate because the devastation would have been catastrophic.

Ketch, my son says he's not evacuating again.

BTW Curly, Ketch asked me if I was getting antsy being (we were in communication throughout) cooped up in the hotel. I told I was so antsy that I was about to put up some targets in the hallway and go at them.

we are all happy your home and all is well. And tell your son that you will believe that the next time a monster like Irma has you in it's sights. You should take him through some of the hard hit areas then ask him if he still wants to try and ride one out.
OG, there seems to be a lot of questions about whether the Red Cross is doing what it should with the money given to it for the Harvey victims. Can you suggest a local realiable charity to donate to that we can be sure will use the money right?
