I'm back in the owner's club

Post by Foxtail » September 7th, 2017, 9:49 am

Well, a week or so ago I traded my P64 (1974 in great condition) with holster to a guy for a new-in-the-box, never fired, Pietta 1873 .45 colt single action revolver. That's a $400 gun in the local gun stores, so I thought it was a good deal. But that left me without a P64. So yesterday at one of the local gun stores I traded a .22 rifle I never use and $45 and got a "new" P64 (also 1974, also in great condition, also including a holster). Their standard price is $240. I kept my 9mm Mak ammo and my own custom-made holsters for the P64.

Net result: I got rid of a .22 rifle I never use that was just taking up space in the gun safe and acquired a new Pietta .45 for a total cost of $45. And I'm back in the P64 owner's club after a week without one.

I NEVER make good gun deals, seems I am always losing money or a gun I like in the process, but this time it actually worked out!

Do.you know my buddy Bill? He is ALWAYS making deals like this and walking away smelling like a rose. I hate him for that. I always seek to walk away wondering if I have been screwed only to find out later that I did.
Nice job man.

Hmm, I would have sworn I posted something here a couple days ago, but it's not here now. In any case, I took my new P64 immediately to the range (literally immediately, left gun store and drove to range). It functioned flawlessly with brass and steel case ammo. The double action trigger was horrendous, however I have ordered the 18 pound trigger spring and a stiffer recoil spring. I'm not a very good pistol shot, but I do pretty well with this gun, one of the reasons I like the P64
