Some help with the magazine release

Post by rvenneman »

I shot my P64 for the first time today. I could hardly push the mag release button. I practally broke my nail. I had to take the weapon upside down to push down. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to free up this release?
Thanks

The magazine release uses the same spring as the hammer. If your hammer spring is stock then it is around 26 pounds which explains why it is so hard to manipulate. Replacing the hammer spring with a lighter weight should do the trick. Wolf offers springs of different weights.
Close enough for Government work will get you dead, ask any Vet.

+1 on what Ketch said. I have the Wolff 20# hammer spring on mine and I have no problem releasing the magazine. Additionally, I would suggest that you check out the polishiron grips and extended magazine release. I have them on my P64 and they both work very well.
