I don't know 'bout being a weak pistol but the bottleneck set-up was really hot 4 starters. SIG did everything they could a couple of yrs ago 2 squeeze 357 performane outa bottleneck 40 case n only got close. If I wished 2 fire even hotter loads I think I'd snoop around 2 see if any newly made brls were available.

This has been the way my luck runs. Makarov.com had 9mm conversion barrels yesterday morning for the CZ52 at $79.00+ dollars. When I called to buy one they were already gone.
Oh well, may be next time.

Has anyone seen the bullet specs on the 7.62x25? It is an impressive round and it makes me want to purchase either a CZ 52 or a Tokarev. I know the CZ is easier to break down, but I kinda like the "throwback" design of the Tokarev. Anyway, here's the specs on the 7.62x25 round. I've included other ammunition specs for comparison.
Cartridge Bullet Weight Muzzle Velocity Muzzle Energy
7.62x25, Tokarev 85 FMJ 1,647 511
9mm Luger 115 FMJ 1,280 421
.357 Magnum 158 SP 1,394 683
.44 Magnum 240 SP 1,181 743

I read somewhere at one of the web forums that it was the first pistol to exceed 1400fps. That is hot even by to days standards, it would be interesting to chrono some of the European surplus ammo that can be purchased. I don't think that I have ever seen the round loaded with JHP bullets. I'm impressed with the size of the pistol, shorter and thinner than I expected it to be. I'm not sure of the weight but it feels similar to my 1911, give or take a few ounces. I expected the trigger to be double action on the first shot, I was surprised to find out the it was a true single action needing to have the hammer cocked or the slide racked to cock the hammer. I'm going to try to pick up a couple hundred rounds this week end at the Collector's West Gun Show here in the Rose City. I'll give a range report on Monday evening if everything goes as expected, will post pictures just as soon as the better half shows me how. :-[

JHP's are hard to find for the 7.62x25, but they are out there. When I find them, I squirrel away a few boxes. I believe that the Wolf gold line, made in Serbia, currently has hollow points. They go in and out of production.

the stats are nice but what is really cool is the fire and noise that goes out the barrel ,especially at dusk at a range... you gather crowds.. this is a fun accurate gun (cz52). throw a pair of grips on and you are down town...
