I have heard that the Wolf military classic 95 gr in the cammo box is made at a different place with higher quality standards. I used it last weekend for the first time and had no issues with it all.

you are the first person that I heard of getting 95 GRN WOLF ammo let use know how many pierced primers you get with it, I wouldn't shoot it in your P-64 only in the MAK

I like to keep ammo available in quantity all the time. I received 1,000 rounds of Wolf ammo, 100gr FMJ the other week. The reasoning here is that this is the same ammunition I am buying at the shooting range. I guess I am concerned, but haven't had any problems.

Norm,

Reading between the lines, you're saying I need to get rid of it and not use it, huh? I just put $160 in getting it refinished, parkerized & duracoat. I have only shot these at the range and normally shoot the Silver Bear, 94 gr FJM & HP. Are these OK??

Silver Bear, Brown Bear is great ammo now that their are not making 115 GRN bullet any more
The P-64 was not designed to shoot anything over a 95 GRN. bullet

Is the difference between these two bears that the Brown bear bullet is steel inside?? I read that it was "magnetic" and made of 2 kinds of metal ( a solid "something" core then another layer of an outer shell, not just the jacket). What is the silver bear made of?

Both bullets have a lead core, are steel cased, and are copper coated. Brown Bear is "Brown" because of the laquer coating on the steel cartridge case. Silver Bear is "Silver" because of the zinc coating on the steel case. Silver Bear cases were formerly coated with nickel - which still looked silver. So the cases and bullets on both brands are magnetic (contain steel).

So the magnetic part is the steel casing? I've never noticed Silver Bear being noted as "magnetic". Why haven't I been buying Brown Bear when I have seen it cheaper...idiot. Some people have too much money and not enough sense...I have neither! 8~)

I've been told that "bounceback" is the reason you can't shoot ammunition that contains steel. When I'm at short ranges, 20 yards, I am only allowed to shoot Winchester which contains lead and not steel. The management actually runs a magnet over the ammo and you can tell immediately that there is steel in them. For what it's worth.

In the interest of safety I will swallow my pride and show my ignorance--what is a "pierced primer"??

RB

A pierced primer is when the firing pin goes throw the primer causing hot gases to come out of the rear of the case when the gun is fired and is very common with all cal. of Wolf military classic ammo

the primers they use in this cheap ammo are brittle
