QUESTION FOR p-64 only

Post by brigade »

I always practice everything as if I was carrying concealed including the same holster at the range and when concealed. I use 4 P-64's regularly and each have about 700 rds through them. I always load 1 in the chamber and then put a 6th round back in the mag and then shoot. I rarely use the sights either. I almost always use the point & shoot method to stay proficient with what would be likely a real life defensive shooting.

I usually load 5 or 6 at the range per mag. I never have a need to carry mine right now. I never have any jams since I repaired my safety. I use Mesko, silver bear HP, and silver bear FMJ.

QUESTION FOR p-64 only

thanks guys

The other reason I ask this question is I have other reports that the
6 and 1 , jams on the 2nd round when shooting this configuration
and trying to find out if mag springs need to be broke in or not ,
like I said I don't know the answer because I shoot 6 and carry 6
I would hate to found out later if someone got killed because of this
6 and 1 , jams on the 2nd round thing

know your weapon

Everything in autoloader I have, carry n shoot always has one up the snout, always has decocker in off position unless I'm in a moving vehicle n it's stored. I shoot the first round in all of them from DA almost all the time(except 4 the cz-52) then I run through a couple of double taps then alternate single, double just 2 mix it up.

Norm,

Not sure what you are getting at, and I want to make sure that I do because you have some great points.

My own experience: I load five at the range, and carry with seven. I usually shoot the current seven at a range outing just to verify operation and rotate the ammo, and I have never had a jam.

**Important note** I DID have jams with my p-64 during break in, but none for a long time.

If you are suggesting that we should verify that a particular ammo in a particular magazine in a particular pistol is reliable before we carry it, I agree.

On a side note, my Rock Island 1911 sometimes jams on the LAST round in the magazine--if anyone can help me with that, I would be grateful!

God bless, and happy easter,

Christ is Risen!

I carry 6 + 1 and 2 spare mags with 6 in each. At the range I load 6 + 1. I have had 2 jams with this gun, both when the gun was still new to me. Since then I've fired 1500 or so rounds without a single jam.

What is the is the difference from reloading a six round clip and the second round in a six plus one style????The same amount of pressure in on the mag spring at both times. The only difference in it is you are pulling the slide back slightly and releasing on a reload with the slide locked to the rear VS. blow back sending it to the rearand picking up the #six round. What are your thoughts?

In the last couple of days I have put over 200 rds thru three diff czaks (silver Bear FMJ) with the first mag loaded with six and one in the tube. The second mag only has six in it. Not one jam, but the more I shoot them, the smoother they get.

On my next several range visits I will make a point of trying the 1 up 6 down test myself. I drove down to AIM and got 100 rounds of that Wolf 95 grain this morning. Hope I can handle it , I'm used to 94 grain :) They said they don't know when they might get he Silver Bear back in. Oh and this has'nt been my best day, I broke one of my little toes today OUCH!!!!!!!!!! I still managed 8hrs of 2nd shift somehow. I have 8 days to heal up for the Knob Creek thing.
