I have a 1968 and wondered how old it might be compared?Mine has the round hammer,of course, reddish hammer and a reddish ejector on the slide, red chamber indicator, and red trigger bar. This is the only one I've seen like this but I haven't seen any others as old or older...(I'm kinda new at P-64's)

I have a couple of '67s and the red ejector and safety are correct. The hammer is blued and the loaded chamber indicator is chrome. The hammer is a little different color than the rest of the bluing, of course, because it is a different alloy and hardness, I suspect.

I have a 68 (round hammer) and a 72 (tri hammer)

I saw a picture of one with a date in the late 50's (58?) although they weren't adopted for military use until 1964 (hence P64). Tried to find the pic on the net and can't. I was on a wikipedia type site. It must have been a prototype or something.

Mine is a 1968 round hammer. When I got it they had a 1970 round hammer too and I opted for the older one.

Right now- 2 1967s- one unfired- and a 1970. All have round hammers and flat grips. I have birdseye maple grips ordered from Chris for one of the 1967s.
