Bought a P-64. Best place to Buy Magazines?

Post by Chuck DeVoid »

Went ahead and purchased a P-64 from Gander Mountain @ 199.00 per their sale flyer. I know some of the sales staff there and they allowed me to go through all 9 pistols they had in stock. I selected a 1975 production in seemingly very good condition.

It comes with only one magazine, so I plan on getting two more. Checked online and there seem to be four choices (keepshooting, SOG, buymilsurp, and J&G) Of the four, SOG (Southern Ohio Gun) is the least expensive @ 17.95 each. They don't disclose shipping costs up front, but I figure about 12.00.

I ask if other users have ordered these magazines from SOG? Your experiences, condition & function of the magazines received, etc...

Thanks in advance,
Bill

All four of these have a good reputation.

I got mine from Keepshooting.com, looks fine but have not actually used it yet so I can't give you meaningful feedback. Shipping was very reasonable though, like $3 (I think) as they will ship USPS.

Let me know how you like the Keepshooting mags. I bought other mags from them and like them and would like one more P-64 mag. I own a 1974 and like it.

I bought 2 mags from SOG, they were the real deal (serial number engraved), they were in as good if not better condition than the one that came with my P-64 and have so far proven reliable. And shipping was reasonable although I cannot remember the exact figure. I think they have a good deal on mags. :D

Keepshooting mags are repros; some have had good luck with them, and some not. SOG would be my go to source. In fact, I got my P64 from them and came with 3 surplus mags.

I have a keepshooting mag, the spring feels a bit stiffer than the original, so loading it is a bit more difficult, but fed just as well.

Original factory magazines can be had at a reasonable price by visiting the Classic Arms web site.

Ordered 2 from Keepshooting. One of them works great the other works if I load 1 less round.
